The Flying Spaghetti Monster

The Pagan Perspective did a series of videos discussing the topic of new gods and goddesses. The question was “Could there be new gods and goddess, and how would they manifest themselves?”

This is where I wrote about literal and symbolic issues. One must ask oneself “Are the gods literal, living outside ourselves, or are they symbolic, perceptions of our Selves?”

I believe all god/desses are perceptions, manifesting through Higher Self. Its mankind’s way of making sense of the world, and our place within it. This is just my opinion, and I respect if others feel differently.

Some of the pagans at the youtube channel said ‘No, their can’t be new god/dess if they are literal’. I disagree with that.

Within many pantheon myths and legends, gods and goddesses give birth to new gods and goddesses, therefore, implying that they can manifest into something new.

New religions and new denominations also pop up, which some argue they are false because of their being new. Take for instance the Jedi Church or the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. But Lutherans and Mormons were also seen (and sometimes still are) as not of the ‘one true faith’.

But I see religion as being the relationship between you and the Divine, however you perceive the Divine, and no one should stand in the way of that.

So what are your thoughts? Can there be new god/desses? Are new religions valid? Post below.
